EBS-Intel Summer School for Social Innovators 2013: The Institute for Transformation in Business and Society (INIT) and Intel® Corporation offer a Summer School for (Future) Social Innovators
Social innovations are new solutions to address societal challenges through a range of formats and structures. Granting micro-credits to people in developing countries, who had no credit standing before, establishing the “share economy”, or developing innovative concepts for geriatric care are impressive examples of this development. To encourage students from all over Europe to play an active role in the development of solutions to societal problems, EBS Business School joined forces with the renowned high-tech company Intel® to launch the “EBS-Intel Summer School for Social Innovators” in 2012. After the great success in 2012, we not only wants to repeat the program for European students from all levels (bachelors, masters, PhDs) but we also want to establish a Teach-the-Teachers program for (potential) educators for social innovation.
For Students and Doctoral Candidates: The “EBS-Intel Summer School for Social Innovators”
The “EBS-Intel Summer School for Social Innovators” will take place from July 30 to July 31. Before joining the “on site” program, participants will be taught relevant knowledge through an extensive e-learning program. Students and doctoral candidates have the opportunity to further develop their social innovation ideas. Furthermore, participants will benefit from a lecture of a successful social entrepreneur and from extensive support of personal mentors. Participants will gain essential knowledge on the design and marketing of their ideas through a comprehensive online program, which they have to complete in advance of their visit at EBS in the Rheingau. This includes in particular the acquisition of instruments and methods used for the successful development and implementation of social innovations, approaches for business model development, and the establishment of distribution channels and business partnerships. Intel® will be awarding 25 scholarships to students from all disciplines and from throughout Europe to participate in the program.
For (future) social innovation educators: “EBS-Intel Summer School for Social Innovation Educators”
Parallel to the Summer School offered for students, Intel® and EBS will offer their joint “Teach-the-Teacher Program” in the field of “Social Innovation”. This program is directed towards professors and experienced (social) entrepreneurs from all over Europe, who are planning to teach in the field of “social innovation” at their home universities or in social organizations. “With this program, we want to combine available experiences of social entrepreneurs with modern university education of EBS Universität into one comprehensive curriculum that fosters as many social innovation teaching programs in Europe as possible”, says Dr Thomas Osburg, Director Europe Corporate Affairs at Intel.
